Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of a number of novels. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist, author television host, and proprietor of the independent liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece but moved to England when she was 16. In Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in Economics. In her 21st year, she was the president of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. In the years following her graduation, she made a impression as an editor for a conservative newspaper and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few months later, she created an online voice portal which included critical comments on the political scenario. The fame of her name helped in getting several high-profile contributors to post their views regarding news in the field of culture and politics. Arianna was famous during 2003 when she ran independently in a recall election in California in order to take over the position of Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit initiative to make cars more fuel efficient. Forbes named her as the 12th most influential female in the media industry in 2009 and Guardian has also placed her on the list of Top 100 media during the same year. In 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her the head of that media group which included many existing AOL brands too, like Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a journalist who also works as a management consultant. The couple was close to her father, but it was her connection with her mother who shaped her. Through her early times, she demonstrated leadership skills for which she remains well-known. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she was part of the Cambridge Union debating group where she went on to become the first female president and only foreign president. After graduating in 1972, she received the degree of master's in Economics. After graduating, she worked as a critic for a newspaper column and a television host. In addition, she appeared along with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editing assistance.
